Paul H. Freidel

Managing Partner
CPA, MST, CTFA, CMA, CFM, CGMA, CPIM

Paul has a deep background in tax, financial management, and accounting, including fifteen years in public accounting, and five years as a Controller and Tax Director for a multi-national manufacturing company. Paul's experience includes work as a member of Plante & Moran's National Tax Office, with a broad array of expertise in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, estate planning, trusts, accounting methods, entity choice and formation, international tax, and state and local taxation.

Paul's objective is to provide you with deep expertise, creative solutions, and nimble service delivery that is focused on solving your greatest financial challenges. He serves a diverse range of individuals, including those with business across various industries such as professional athletes, restaurants, manufacturing, farming, technology, medical, and legal.

Paul is also the co-founder of Secure Compliance, LLC, which is a cloud-based software company that Freidel & Associates leverages to help companies report beneficial ownership in compliance with new FinCEN rules under the Corporate Transparency Act, also known as the CTA.

Ben is a CPA and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, holding a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Certificate in Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning. He’s enjoyed a career approaching 15 years in public and private accounting and finance, leading a global team in several of his initiatives, and thrives in the Board room. Ben’s background in audit, coaching, and operational finance equip him to maximize fiscal health for both personal and corporate clients, platforming them for optimized growth through financial clarity and control.

Ben also heads the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting initiative at F&A. With the Corporate Transparency Act requiring 32.6 million businesses to report by December 31, 2024, it’s no secret that business owners will need help identifying what information they need to report to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Ben and our CTA compliance experts are here to help business owners report!

Trisha is a certified CPA with a background serving clients in the areas of tax, accounting, and business advisory services. Her experience encompasses both public practice and the private sector, serving high-net-worth individuals and diverse areas such as family-owned businesses, investment partnerships, professional services, and non-profits.

At Freidel & Associates, Trisha will serve our clients in the areas of tax and financial planning, accounting, business advisory consulting, and tax compliance.

Trisha is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Oklahoma Society of CPAs.

Outside the office, Trisha enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking and weight training, and cooking.

Connor Ward

Tax Associate

Connor is part of the Tax Practice team at Freidel & Associates, and his primary focus is corporate & partnership tax compliance, along with individual tax planning. Secondarily, Connor serves as the in-house technology specialist.

Connor graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major into Accounting and Finance from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

At F&A, Connor serves clients by leveraging his accounting expertise to successfully prepare corporate and partnership tax returns. Additionally, he assists his fellow tax team with his expert knowledge of accounting!

During his free time, Connor loves to play board games with his family and friends.

Chamberlyn Bridge

Tax Associate and CTA Compliance Services

Chamberlyn, a member of the Tax Practice team, primarily focuses on individual tax compliance and planning. She enjoys serving clients with international tax needs and finding the best solutions through research. In addition to tax compliance, Chamberlyn is knowledgeable in Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) compliance. Since the finalization of the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting rule in 2022, she has been diligently learning its details and is eager to help entities achieve compliance by December 31, 2024.

Before starting at F&A, Chamberlyn achieved Magna Cum Laude honors upon graduating in 2023 from Black Hills State University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in Business Administration, with emphasis in Accounting, and Mathematics.

In her leisure time, Chamberlyn enjoys watching movies alongside her friends and family, playing sand volleyball, and listening to music.

Karla Fitschen

Accounting Manager

Karla helps quarterback a smooth monthly close process as our Accounting Services Manager. She has over 20 years of accounting experience encompassing lending, construction, and retail. Prior to joining Freidel & Associates she served 13 years as Controller of an established nonprofit, where she was instrumental in ensuring financial transparency and maintaining internal controls. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting through National American University and holds a Graduate certificate in Human Resource Management.

Her joy in life comes from faith, her husband, children and grandbaby. She is blessed by blessing others through the gift of a good meal or her listening ear.

Lexy Trotter

Tax Associate

Lexy is a member of the Tax Practice team and primarily focuses on individual and gift tax compliance and planning for family offices. Before deciding to pursue a career in accounting, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Science from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. In 2023, Lexy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Accountancy. Currently, Lexy is working toward her CPA licensure within the state of South Dakota.

Lexy enjoys spending her leisure time with her husband, Aaron and her dog, Nyx. She is an avid reader and, when the weather cooperates, she loves to explore the beautiful Black Hills hiking trails.

Madison Wetz

Tax Associate

Madison is a part of the Tax Practice team, her primary focus being individual, partnership, and trust tax compliance. She enjoys working with clients involved in complex ownership structures and getting to know new/current clients and working with them year after year.

She recently graduated from Black Hills State University with Cum Laude honors in May of 2024. She now has a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Accountancy and minors in Business Administration and Business Communications.

Her favorite ways to spend her free time are hanging out with friends, going home to Miller, SD to visit her family, and laying out by her apartment pool (weather permitting).

KathyAnn Knottnerus

Office Manager

KathyAnn is the office manager at Freidel & Associates, LLC. Her background is in business administration, and she helps to keep the office running smoothly.

When not at the office, KathyAnn loves to plan and execute the next Black Hills and beyond adventure! She loves spending time with her family and most of all, with grandchildren.

Cindy is an accountant at Freidel & Associates, LLC. Cindy graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Western International University in Phoenix, Arizona, and has almost two decades of accounting experience across various platforms and contexts. Cindy is extremely gifted with an eye for detail, and helping small businesses ensure a seamless accounting experience while investing in repeatable processes that help businesses run smoothly.
